its nothing special, just like, emailing me a few phrases a week to study
i’ve been wanting to learn japanese for a really long time, and there’s no classes with that course where i live

You’re not gonna learn it like that. Try to google some books that will teach you but just a few e-mails ain’t gonna cut it.
