Do you think it’s obnoxious (or impersonal, rude, etc.) to send out a mass email to your friends and family

announcing the birth of your baby? (with pictures attached)

Do you think that other people think it’s obnoxious, rude, etc?

I just did it but I also plan to send out birth announcements. I just wanted to share the good news really fast. It was basic and to the point. People get offended by lots of different stuff so I was just wondering what you thought…

I don’t think it’s rude or obnoxious at all, though personally, if I had just had a baby, I would call and tell people over the phone.

I think it’s a GREAT way to send out pics. Face it, you’re more than a little busy right now….if a friend can’t understand that, it’s their problem!!

If I were you, I would send stuff like that only to people who you think will care. Don’t include everyone you have ever known on the distribution list. I think your friends and family would like to know about your baby though, and would be interested to see pictures.

no, i think it was ok, as long as u dont overdo it, as much as u were trying to save time, people like effort as well!!

I only send out mass e-mails when i have really good news. On rare occassions, I send it when i want to hear from people that I haven’t in awhile. Ya know, the kind that only send you e-mails when you send them one?

That’s fine. However I don’t like receiving crap jokes or stupid photos sent to dozens of people.

I think it is alright. Cheaper than making 30 copies of the same photo and paying for cards and stamps too. Plus in today’s world, everyone wants their information now. Especially about a new baby. This is an announcement, not an invitation, so a mass e-mail sounds suitable. Anyone who does get all offended should be told that the formal birth announcement will be arriving in the mail in a few days.
