Is there a better alternative?
he wants some group pictures I took, but I don’t want to email them to him. can i post the full size files (about 32 MB) on a site like Photobucket or Flicker?

lets you send up to 100 mb file (at a time) for free. For a paid account, you can send up to 2 GB file(s) at a time.
It will send a link–not the file itself. So the person will just click on it and download the file(s) from their server.

An other idea…If your uncle wants to have those pics printed he definitely does need the original files. But if this is not the case then you could also mail your pics after resampling them – downgrading their resolution and/or increasing jpeg compression ratio. Just keep in mind not to go too far on that since decreasing filesize doesn’t come free, but you have to sacrifice a bit of the quality – the more you compress, the worse the final quality of the pic will be. You can do this conversion in almost any pic editing software.
