What laptop brand is best for surfing the web and emailing?

I’m interested in buying a laptop, but I think I’m only going to buy one mainly to use to go on the internet and email. (I want an inexpensive one if possible) So any suggestions?

I want a laptop that will connect to a cable connection (optimum online - New York area)- I basically want to use it for surfing the net, online purchases, bills, porno, and emailing (yes, I said porno-everyone does it). I want to be able to walk around the house using it with a card that will read to my modem. I want some good suggestions on laptops that are light and under $700, with good quality screen, performance, and not difficult to navigate. I want Windows, not a Mac, I’m not familiar with Mac software.

I don’t know what all the little terms and numbers mean, but I want it for emailing (sometimes with pics attached), downloading movies and music, burning, and general web surfing. So any help would be great. Brand, accessories, size (in words I understand) lol. Thanks
thanks, also, does it matter that all new laptops seem to come with Vista? I **** Vista. Is it still the crap I had before or has it changed???
