mass emailing

I’m applying for any open positions at all of the news stations in my city. I would like to be in front of the cameras but I am willing to take any kind of opening position to start with such as cameraman, etc. So I was thinking of submitting a picture with my resume since I may be on camera someday and they might see my potential. Or is that weird?

I’m so nervous desperate for work: I can’t tell if this is a scam. A job fair guy gave me a card, I emailed my resume, and now I’m part of a mass-interview tomorrow. (Seems brainwashy..)

In summary: ‘Dear sir or madam, thank you for calling us/emailing us. We have reserved a seat for you Friday night at 7 at our storage facility (warehouse) two cities over. Bring resume hours u can work. The session will last an hour and you cannot enter or leave because the doors are locked. (Agoraphobia comes to mind.)

My main concerns:
-I have no idea what the job is about. Possibly Lawns (?)
-12 hour work days. Yikes.
-Pays $100 (below minimum) upto $500 (way above minimum) a day.
-No paychecks, just under the table.
-There is NO way to call these people. I tried. The email even says Don’t bother replying.
-Then again, I need money and a job is a job. .. Even if they pay me half of min. , right?

NOW I know not to give them money because most scams do that. But otherwise does this seem scammy?

I am looking for a job in the computer hardware/networking, and or to a lessor extent the software areas.

I’m having difficulty on deciding what is the best approach to applying/getting the job(s)

heres what i came up with

1. mass calling of every computer place or business that has IT dept to see if they are hiring

2. mass emailing every place with my resume and cover letter

3. mass mailing, my cover letter and resume to all places

4. go in person and give them the resume and fill out an application

5. any other way you guys can think of

whats the best approach to getting a job in the computer field?

I am submitting my resume together with a cover letter online (not as a hard copy) as requested by the company. I am, however, wondering - do I need to sign the letter in this case and if so, how do I sign it? I scanned my signature and inserted in the letter, but is it appropriate? Should I just type my name and leave it unsigned?

If the employer does not specifiy how they would like you to send your resume, but they insist it should be done by email, do you put the cover letter in the body of the email and send the resume as an attachment? Or do you send both as an attachment? And should they be separate attachments?

I am in Michigan and it is a tough, aggressive market. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough jobs to go around. I was thinking a week, but maybe 3 days instead? What is the protocol? I thought maybe I could send a followup email after 3 days, then call if I don’t hear? But if I call, how many days should I wait? Help!
I don’t want to come across as pusy, desperate, or aggressive. But, I do want them to remember me and to know I am interested.

About 2 years ago I was working for a company in sales. Another representative had to split his commission with me because he sold a deal to one of my clients. When he found out he had to split it, he started screaming at me in front of several people which lasted for about 2 minutes. He even made an attempt to lunge at me which was thwarted by other people. I went to HR the next day and reported the incident. He was going to get fired, but I heard through the grapevine that if he did get fired he was going to do something to me. I should have gone to the police at that point but instead I called HR and told them I didn’t want him fired, so they just wrote him up and that was the end of it. To this day I am bothered by the fact I did not get that spaz fired. A few months later I was fired for some total nonesense. What If I were to send an ANONYMOUS mass email now to many people in the company exposing what he did, just to humiliate him?There would be no trace to me. any risk to me?
