Since joining PETAs emailing list, I am receiving lots of junk emails and scams?

I am getting 3 or 4 per day from Africa saying I am needed to give my bank account number as I have been left a million pounds, Lots of different scams asking for my passport and name and address, what do I do? is this due to me adding myself to mailing lists for animal charities? What do you do to syop this? I told them my name was Mike Hunt and gave my telephone number as the local police station, worryingly, I got an email back saying they tried it and could not locate me,lol
