. 2 women. and the online men who disappeared?

I have 2 online women friends who both have basically the same story. Both of them had online relationships, for many years, with men. One woman actually met the man in person .. the other did not meet the man in person. Both women, and both men, were friends every single day .. they shared a warm friendship. The women did not put an pressure on the men for anything. Suddenly - both men just stopped emailing the women. The men did not say good-bye .. or anything .. they just stopped emailing. Both women found out that the men did not die or anything. Both men could have easily told the women good-bye .. it would have been ok with both women .. in fact, both woman would have thought better of the men if they would have said goodbye. Why do men do this .. just stop .. and disappear like poof .. without a single word .. to friends ? What is your opinion ? Pls do not sent silly answers - they do no good - and it takes time to read them.
